A Murder at the End of the World: Homme Fatale
FX has a new Murder mystery series and I’ve been avoiding it because I thought it was another true crime documentary 🤣 The show is described as a mystery series about a Gen Z hacker and amateur sleuth named Darby who is invited to a isolated retreat by a billionaire along with 8 other guests. When one of the guests is killed, it’s up to Darby to figure out who the killer is and stop them before it’s too late. Here is my recap and thoughts about the first episode. Spoilers ahead!
One of the preschoolers in the book Cutting Teeth by Chandler Baker is a literal ankle biter and I am now fully invested in this book 😂
yeah your ship may have kissed but did they try to kill each other?
I’m Not Done With You Yet by Jesse Q. Sutanto
I haven’t been able to focus enough to finish a book recently because I’ve been stressed and busy with life but this book demanded my attention. Alternating between two time periods we follow struggling author and self diagnosed sociopath Jane Morgan as she recently discovers that Thalia, the friend she was obsessed with in college has finally resurfaced as a successful author. The current timeline is Jane trying to make her way to SusPens Con, a convention that Thalia will be featured in and 9 years prior when they were at Oxford University together. Something bad happened and as the novel progresses you see just how far Jane will go to keep Thalia all to herself. If you’re a fan of Tara Isabella Burton you’ll enjoy it because it has that same theme of a wallflower, unpopular character becoming obsessed with her beautiful, social butterfly best friend that leads to a dangerous outcome.
I’m just finished reading Ace of Spades and it really is like Gossip Girl! Two Black private school students Chiamaki “Chi” and Devon are targeted by an unknown social media account simply known as “Aces” and the secrets spilled and actions taking place behind the scenes continue to escalate with each chapter. I would say it’s Gossip Girl meets Pretty Little Liars because not only does Aces spill secrets, they’re physically putting in work as well. Like just when I thought things couldn’t get worse they did and I was shook until Aces made their next move. This would make a great tv series on Hulu since they’ve been adapting more original Black stories such as The Other Black Girl and Black Cake.
BLACK CAKE SEASON ONE EPISODE ONE: COVEY
"We couldn't look back. Covey was dead. Or so I thought. It didn't take long for me to learn that you can't run from the truth. You can't run from who you really are. Eventually, the truth will surface. And when it does, you must reckon with it."
What Caused the Cabin to Burn Down?
I’ve been thinking about the season two finale of Yellowjackets and what to expect in season three and while I initially thought Coach Ben burned down the cabin I’m not quite sure anymore. I feel like maybe the Wilderness didn’t accept Javi as a sacrifice and punished them for not killing Nat as planned. What do you guys think?
